It’s the official currency of mainland China and is issued by People’s Bank of China. The yuan is divided into units of 10 jiao and 100 fen. Renminbi is an alternative name for the yuan, in the same way, the UK has the pound and sterling. You’ll often see Renminbi is often abbreviated to RMB.
Although Hong Kong is officially part of China, its currency is the Hong Kong Dollar. If visiting mainland China and then Hong Kong, you can easily exchange your Chinese money over there.
